Using exclusive and one of a kind European design and engineering our patented Shield and Shield Plus patio covers combine aesthetics with advanced technology accommodating a maximum width IN ONE PIECE using one motor of 42'8" and a maximum projection of 22' 11". Multiple patio cover units can be butted together for unlimited widths and complete sun, rain, glare and UV ray protection. It's pleated style fabric folds add charm to any residential or commercial structure. Functioning with fabric in side lateral guides, the Shield and Shield Plus patio covers can be closed in a few seconds to take full advantage of the beautiful weather or opened to protect from sun, rain, glare and UV rays. This is accomplished by heat sealed plastic coated Ferrari brand fabric and tough aluminium windbreaks. In fact, the Shield plus patio cover has been Pininfarina tested in Europe to withstand winds of over 50mph in the extended (opened) position. The Shield patio cover can be installed on to existing or new wood or vinyl pergolas, steel structures or sky lights and can be used for special and irregular shapes such as trapezs or rhomboids. For those who do not have an existing structure to mount to, the Shield Plus patio cover is the choice.....an electrostatically powder coated white aluminium frame (which can be custom colored to any RAL color) made with the same usability of the Shield model. The Shield Plus patio cover has vertical posts at the front of the retractable patio cover system. It can be used in instances where there is no front support. Shield and Shield Plus patio covers are available in either a flat or pitch/angle version. When using the pitch/angle option, a minimum of 8 1/2 degrees pitch (which is 1.78 inches per foot or projection) is required. The Shield and Shield Plus retractable patio cover systems have been designed to allow the rainwater to run down the cover from the rear towards the front bar for the slanting type OR along the sides using single sided or alternating water fabric cut method for the flat type Shield thus guaranteeing rain runoff under the waterproof warranty. Should the parallel fabric option be chosen with the flat type Shield or Shield Plus, rain runoff will not occur and therefore the waterproof warranty will not apply. The front horizontal beam on the Shield Plus and side horizontal beams (not standard) allow you to install our optional and exclusive Rain&Wind&Bugzip® vertical drop screen system for added sun, wind and rain protection from the front and sides allowing you to heat this "room" in the winter and air condition it in the summer. The optional and exclusive Rain&Wind&Bugzip® vertical drop screen system can also be attached to the sides of an existing or new wood, vinyl or steel pergola. All Shield and Shield Plus patio covers must be automated with a standard motor and are not available with a crank. Fabrics available for the Shield and Shield Plus patio covers are Ferrari Precontraint 602 (blackout with privacy), Ferrari Precontraint 502 (light filtering with privacy), Ferrari Soltis 86 (solar mesh material) and Ferrari Soltis 92 (solar mesh material). Solution dyed acrylic fabrics like Sunbrella, Dickson, Sattler and Para cannot be used on the Shield and Shield Plus models. Minimum width is 6 foot 0 inches. Minimum projection is 8'2".
